The African Union suspended the membership of Guinea-Bissau in its bodies on Friday. This was announced by the Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Moussa Faki Mahamat. The decision was made immediately after the military coup that ousted President Umaro Sissoco Embalo. The army announced on Wednesday that it had removed Embalo from power and suspended the presidential and legislative elections, which were held on November 23 and whose results were expected to be announced soon.
